I have a HP Envy 4500. Can I use the 61XL cartridges in this printer? Thanks.

@Duke4866, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, your HP Envy 4500 e-All-in-One Printer is compatible with HP 61XL ink cartridges. You can use:

  • HP 61XL Black Ink Cartridge
  • HP 61XL Tri-color Ink Cartridge

These are high-yield versions of the standard HP 61 cartridges and offer more prints per cartridge, making them a cost-effective choice for frequent printing.

Steps to Replace the Ink Cartridges:

  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the cartridge access door (lift the front panel).
  3. Wait for the carriage to move to the center.
  4. Press down gently on the old cartridge to release it, then pull it out.
  5. Remove the new HP 61XL cartridge from its packaging and pull the plastic tab to remove the protective tape.
  6. Insert the new cartridge into the correct slot:
    • Black on the right
    • Tri-color on the left
  7. Push the cartridge in until it clicks into place.
  8. Close the cartridge access door.

Your printer may prompt you to align the cartridges, just follow the on-screen instructions.
