Hi @AA691,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Ink dripping from an inkjet printer like the HP Envy 6455e can be a cause for concern as it may lead to various issues, including print quality problems, paper jams, and damage to the printer itself. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue.

  • Check the Cartridge: The first thing you should do is examine the ink cartridge that is dripping. Ensure that it is properly installed and seated in its designated slot. If it's not properly installed, it may not seal correctly, causing ink to leak.
  • Clean the Cartridge: Carefully remove the leaking cartridge and inspect it for any visible damage or clogs. Wipe away any excess ink with a lint-free cloth.
  • Replace the Cartridge: If you find any visible damage to the cartridge or if it's an old cartridge, consider replacing it with a new, genuine HP cartridge. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause leakage issues.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Ink dripping can sometimes be related to paper jams. Check the paper path for any obstructions or bits of torn paper. Clear any jams if found.
  • Printer Maintenance: Run the printer's maintenance or cleaning cycle. Most inkjet printers have a built-in utility to clean the printhead and ink delivery system. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve various printer issues.
  • Paper Quality: Ensure you're using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Using the wrong paper can sometimes lead to ink smudging or dripping.
  • Environmental Factors: Make sure your printer is in an environment with stable temperature and humidity. Extreme conditions can affect print quality and may lead to ink leakage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
