Hi @Timlinda

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must feel to install cartridges and then see them rejected, especially after you’ve already gone through the effort of setting them up. Thank you for sharing the details—it helps us focus on the right area.

Steps to Try

Power Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and press the power button once.
  • This clears temporary recognition errors.

Re‑seat the Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove each cartridge and check that all protective tape has been removed.
  • Reinsert firmly until you hear a click.

Update Printer Firmware

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  • Firmware updates can improve cartridge recognition.
  • You can also update via the HP App on Windows.

Check Cartridge Source

  • If the cartridges are third‑party, confirm with the supplier that they are designed for models with dynamic security.
  • Some suppliers provide updated chips that work with newer firmware.

You can find more information here:

If after reseating and updating firmware the cartridges are still rejected, the only way forward is either to use cartridges confirmed by the supplier as compatible with dynamic security, or genuine HP cartridges. Since you’ve already tried installing them, contacting the cartridge manufacturer for confirmation would be the next step.
