After performing a print head cleaning, I turned off my HP 9012 printer without the four 962XL ink cartridges in it.  Now the cartridges or print head won't allow me to push the cartridges all the way into the print head properly.  What should I do?  Surely there's a way to "unlock" the cartridges to allow them to seat properly.  These are all brand new HP cartridges with a warranty until 2027.

Hi @Rkatect,

You need to push a little bit the ink cartridge to seat inside printhead.

Thanks FerRX, but I have owned this printer for three years and changed the cartridges at least 15 times.  This situation is different.  The problem occurred when I turned off the printer when there were no cartridges in the print head (I was cleaning the contacts).  None of the four brand new cartridges will seat properly.  I do not want to damage them.  I tried all the suggestions on Youtube, like unplugging the printer and waiting 60 seconds, resetting the printer to the factory default settings, etc.  Nothing worked.  I read somewhere that the cartridges can "lock" if HP thinks you are trying use them in another printer.  Again, surely there is a work around here...we need an HP expert to weigh in here.

Hi @Rkatect,

Ok, thanks for providing more information. 😇

While I don't have that printer model, if you check the next video, you can see that ink cartridges are a little bit "off" in the printhead.

You only need to check, when installing ink cartridges, to make sure you hear a "click sound"
