Hi @Lemanski,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is not recognizing the cartridges because the ones you received are a different cartridge number. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Confirm the exact printer model
Check the printer model number on the front of the printer or on the label at the back.
Cartridge numbers are model-specific, and even similar models use different cartridges.

Check the cartridge number printed on the cartridge
Look directly on the cartridge label for the cartridge number (for example, HP 63, 67, 902, etc.).
Compare it with the cartridge number listed on the printer or in the printer documentation.

Verify regional compatibility
HP cartridges are region-locked.
If the printer and cartridges are from different regions, the printer will not recognize them.

Check if the printer is enrolled in Instant Ink
Instant Ink printers only accept Instant Ink cartridges while enrolled.
Retail cartridges will not be recognized until the Instant Ink subscription is canceled or the printer is removed from the plan.

Reseat the cartridges
Remove all cartridges and reinstall them firmly until they click into place.
Close the cartridge access door completely and wait for the printer to initialize.

Remove any protective tape
Make sure all orange or clear protective tape is fully removed from the cartridges.
Tape left on the cartridge contacts or vents will prevent recognition.

Restart the printer
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Wait 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet, and turn the printer back on.

Check for mixed cartridge types
Avoid mixing old cartridges with new ones from a different series or set.
Use cartridges from the same compatible series for best recognition.

I hope this helps.
