@Linee, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Ink Cartridge Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP printer is indicating that the ink cartridges are empty despite being full, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Remove and Reinsert the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer’s front cover.
  • Carefully remove each ink cartridge.
  • Inspect the cartridges for any damage or leaks.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges securely into their respective slots.

Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Check for Counterfeit or Non-HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Using counterfeit or refilled ink cartridges can cause compatibility issues.
  • HP printers may enter a 'safe mode' when refilled or counterfeit ink cartridges are detected, affecting print quality and functionality. Replace with genuine HP cartridges if necessary.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
