Hi @Jeni867,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the error message 0xc19a0023 typically indicates a printhead issue on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer. It may also explain why ink is found at the bottom of the printer. This could be due to a clogged or damaged printhead, or ink spillage that may have caused some internal issues.
Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem:
1. Turn off the Printer and Unplug It
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet to avoid any electrical issues while working on it.
2. Check for Ink Spills or Leaks
- Carefully inspect the interior of the printer for any ink buildup or leaks, especially around the printhead area. If ink is found in the bottom of the printer, clean it up carefully using a soft cloth or paper towels. Be sure to avoid touching any of the internal components with your hands.
3. Remove and Inspect the Printhead
- Open the printer cover and remove the ink cartridges.
- Lift the printhead to check for any visible damage or ink residue that may be blocking the printhead’s functionality. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently clean the printhead contacts and any ink residue.
- Reinstall the printhead after cleaning.
4. Reset the Printer
- With the printer still unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
5. Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- Once the printer is on, use the printer's maintenance settings to perform a printhead cleaning. You can typically access this through the printer's control panel:
- Home > Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
6. Check Ink Cartridges
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and are not empty or damaged. If necessary, replace any low or damaged cartridges.
7. Perform a Printer Reset
- If the issue persists, you can reset the printer to its factory settings. This will restore default settings, but it may also clear any configuration issues that could be causing the error.
