I installed all new 910 HP ink.  2/4 worked but the black and magenta won't register and it won't let me print anything since it says they are non HP products.  I can't reach any technical support and am so frustrated with this piece of junk.  I'm stationed overseas and need it to print important documents and can't get replacement ink quickly.

Hi @lol911_,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing a frustrating issue where your HP ink cartridges aren't being recognized by your printer. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Verify Authenticity:

  • Ensure that the black and magenta cartridges are indeed genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes, even genuine cartridges can be mistakenly identified as non-HP due to packaging or chip errors.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Open the printer access door and make sure the cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes cartridges need to be removed and reinserted to establish a good connection.

Inspect Cartridges and Contacts:

  • Remove the cartridges and check the electrical contacts for any dirt or residue. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, wait about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often reset error messages that might be locking out cartridge functionality.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes compatibility issues can arise if the firmware is outdated. You can download updates from the Official HP® Support if they are available for your model.

Check for Printer Software:

  • Ensure that your printer software is properly installed and updated. Your operating system should recognize your printer correctly.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
