Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My old printer HP6940 is still working perfectly and I still use them. But I can not control the level of ink, like this is possible with all the new printers. I did not find a way to do it.

Please, can one of you explain me, wether is it possible and how command is necesscary.

@olive66, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

There is no printer software available now to check the ink levels. However, you may use HP Print and Scan doctor.

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation.

pen the software, in the top menu bar, click Printer > Check the ink level

I am very sorry for the long line.

Now,   it does not work, also with the "print and scan doctor".
After STEP 2 appears ( in German):  all tests of this product ware successfully

Then: "print a test page"  works also perfect

Then: after cklick  "ink check"  appears  "the connection to printer is interrupted"

At last I try a new USB cable; without success.

Notice1: With my other Printer HP 4526  the "print and scan doctor" works as expected.

Notice2:  I can print von MS Office and Acrobat without problems.

Now, I think, I do not spend more time with it, I leave it so.

That is the only option available as of now since the printer driver is not available anymore. If the issue persists, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
