I put in non HP ink and it rejected them. Now i bought HP and printer is still rejecting them. I won't let me get to restore to factory settings so, sounds like I need Regionalization Reset.

Hi @johnsonbjr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is rejecting ink cartridges, even after installing genuine HP cartridges, a regionalization reset might help. Here’s how to approach this issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear minor issues.

2. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reseat them to confirm they are properly placed.

3. Try Different Cartridges

  • If possible, test with a different set of genuine HP cartridges to rule out any specific cartridge issues.

4. Regionalization Reset

  • If you need to perform a regionalization reset, follow these steps carefully. Note that the process can vary by model:
    1. Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power supply.
    2. While holding down the # and 6 buttons on the printer’s control panel, reconnect the power cord.
    3. Continue to hold the buttons until the printer starts up and displays the reset process.
    4. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

5. Update Firmware

  • Make sure the printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or HP’s support websit

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
