Ink patron will not taken by the printer. It says failure, replace another patron. I have done it with 3 different original parts.

Hi @Helena161,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with an issue where your HP printer is not recognizing or accepting the ink cartridges, despite trying multiple original cartridges. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this problem.

Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your printer model. Double-check the part number on the cartridge box with your printer’s manual or HP's support website to confirm.

Inspect the Cartridges and Printer Contacts

  • Cartridge Contacts: Gently wipe the copper contacts on the ink cartridges with a soft, lint-free cloth. Any dirt, ink residue, or moisture on these contacts can prevent the printer from reading the cartridges correctly.
  • Printer Contacts: Similarly, inspect the printer’s internal contacts (where the cartridge connects) for any debris or ink buildup. Clean them carefully using a slightly damp cloth with distilled water and let them dry.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • Reinsert the cartridges, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, printers will not accept certain cartridges due to outdated firmware. You can update the firmware through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel (depending on your model).

Hard Reset (if applicable)

  • Perform a hard reset: Unplug the printer while it's on, wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset internal issues related to cartridge detection.

Cartridge Authentication

  • HP printers use chips to authenticate cartridges, and if these chips are damaged or dirty, the printer won’t accept the cartridge. Make sure the chip area is clean and not damaged.

Try a Factory Reset (Optional)

  • If the issue persists, perform a factory reset of the printer. This can sometimes resolve firmware or software glitches.

Check for Blockages or Broken Parts

  • Inspect the cartridge slot for any visible blockages or broken parts that could prevent the cartridge from being seated correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
