HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One

I just tried to set up my new HP Smart Tank 7305. I filled all the ink tanks completely. Nevertheless, the printer tells me that no black ink has been filled. I have already turned off the printer several times and disconnected it from the power supply. However, the message remains, so I cannot continue with the setup.

@ReneLeduc, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One printer is indicating that no black ink has been filled despite having filled the ink tanks completely, there are several steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels Manually:

  • Ensure the ink tank is filled properly by manually checking the ink levels. Look at the ink window on the printer to verify the ink levels visually.
  • Make sure the ink bottle is the correct model for your printer and not expired or damaged.

Confirm the Ink Bottle Installation:

  • Open the ink tank access door and ensure that the ink bottles were properly aligned with the fill nozzles during filling.
  • Make sure the ink bottle was securely placed onto the ink tank nozzle to avoid any leaks or malfunction.

Reconnect the Ink Bottles:

  • If the bottle did not drain properly, remove it and reconnect to ensure the tip fits properly over the nozzle.
  • Do not squeeze the bottle; let it drain naturally into the ink tank until full.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on to see if the message changes.
  • Disconnecting the power source and reconnecting might reset any errors with detecting ink levels.

Use HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart App to check if there are any firmware updates or diagnostic tools that can assist in detecting ink levels accurately.
  • The app can also help in troubleshooting other setup issues.

Check the Printer's Control Panel:

  • There may be an option to reset the printer's ink sensor.Read through user manual to navigate the control panel options.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Gary, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, none of this helped. I have also contacted HP Support by phone. They told me it was a mechanical problem and that I should send the printer in.
