Just curious as to whether this issue is fixable or I need a new printer. Any insight into the problem is appreciated. I can also provide pictures for a better understanding. There is a huge surplus of tri-color ink plus black in the bottom of the printer where the cartridge wagon comes to rest. Its a pool of thick ink, as of the cartridges are leaking when in a resting position. My print quality is not affected whatsoever. I was prompted to take a look because I am going through the High Yield black ink cartridges much faster than expected. Please let me know what my options are. Thank you.

Hi @ARossi79,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e printer where excess ink is pooling at the bottom of the printer, and you're going through black ink cartridges faster than expected. This can be a common issue with inkjet printers. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
- Clean the Printhead: Start by running a printhead cleaning process. This can often help in redistributing the ink and clearing any clogs or excess ink. You can usually find this option in the printer settings or software that comes with your printer. Follow the instructions to perform a thorough printhead cleaning.
- Inspect the Cartridges: Check the black ink cartridge for any visible leaks or damage. Make sure it's properly seated in its slot. If you notice any ink leakage from the cartridge, it may be faulty, and replacing it could solve the issue. Also, ensure that the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges.
- Check for Clogs: Sometimes, ink can clog in the printhead, causing an uneven distribution of ink and potentially resulting in a faster depletion of black ink. Your printer software may have a utility for cleaning or unclogging the printhead. Run this utility if available.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer's drivers and firmware are up to date. HP often releases updates to address known issues and improve printer performance.
- Use the Right Paper: Using the correct type and quality of paper can affect how much ink is absorbed and how it's distributed. Make sure you're using the recommended paper for your printer.
- Adjust Print Settings: Review your print settings to make sure you're not using a higher quality or higher ink consumption setting than necessary for your print jobs. Using draft or standard settings instead of high-quality settings can conserve ink.
In some cases, it's possible that a replacement printer or parts are needed, but the above steps should help you determine whether your current printer can be fixed or if it's time for a replacement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
