Hi @Beck32,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w is a monochrome laser printer that uses toner, not ink. If your printer is displaying a low toner message even after refilling it, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Toner Level Indicator: Make sure you've refilled the toner cartridge correctly. Check the toner level indicator on your computer or the printer's control panel. If it still shows low, try removing the toner cartridge and reseating it to ensure it's properly installed.
  • Reset the Toner Cartridge: Some HP printers require a manual reset of the toner cartridge. To do this, remove the toner cartridge, turn off the printer, and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in, turn it on, and reinstall the toner cartridge.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on HP's website. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues like false low toner warnings.
  • Clean the Contacts: Dust or debris on the electrical contacts of the toner cartridge or inside the printer can cause communication issues. Gently clean both the cartridge contacts and the contacts inside the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Replace the Toner Chip (if applicable): Some aftermarket toner cartridges come with a microchip that communicates with the printer. If this chip is not reset or replaced when you refill the toner, the printer may still register the toner as low. If you are using an aftermarket toner cartridge, consider replacing the chip.
  • Use Genuine HP Toner: While aftermarket toner cartridges are cheaper, using genuine HP toner cartridges can help prevent compatibility issues and ensure proper communication between the cartridge and the printer.

Remember to always follow safety precautions when working with toner cartridges, as toner can be harmful if inhaled or spilled.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
