Can anyone give me the pros and cons of instant ink from your experience. I’m not printing much these days.  Is it worth it.  The price went way up.

An ink subscription is more useful for those who print regularly.

What?

Ink is included with each Print-by-Page subscription plan -- that's nice.

That said, if you only print a little, on occasion, or once in a while -- having ink included in the monthly fee for the subscription is less useful than if (for example) you print constantly and running out of ink is a concern.

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription model.

You are not paying for ink.

That said, your plan is chosen based on how many pages a month you print.

"Pages" can be easy to manage or more trouble -- the lower the number of pages in your plan, the more carefully you have to manage how many pages you print. 

Easy - Just order a "big plan" with lots of pages -- Makes sense to have a bigger plan - yes? 

No - maybe not.  If you only print once in a while, having a plan that includes lots of pages is wasteful -- a larger plan than you need can end up costing much more than it might be worth.

Why?  Ink is only sent when the printer notifies the service that ink is needed.

If you are not printing very much, you won't be receiving all the "free ink" you think you should get.

On the other hand, if you are writing the next great American novel and you are printing out copies for everyone you know, then sure -- you can benefit.  Same is true for artists - If you print your artwork, you might benefit from having a plan that counts pages and not the amount of ink on the paper.

The "free trial" is a set period during which you are not charged the monthly fee for your plan.

True, should you go over your plan page limit, you are charged per set for "X" sets of pages as used.

Ink is included at no extra charge - this is true regardless of the plan you select.

10 pages or 700 pages - Ink is included as part of the plan.

What is an Instant Ink Promotion / Trial ?

The offer is generally for a one month or longer trial to HP Instant Ink subscription service.

To get the trial, you must sign up, select a plan, and commit to the print-by-page subscription model.

An HP Instant Ink subscription is a contact for service - ink is included in that service.

The trial is a suspension of the monthly plan costs during the trial period.

The printer must be connected to the Internet (Web Services) during the Trial and for the duration of the contract.  Connection is used by service to monitor plan usage status and by the printer to request ink.

What is "Free Ink"?

There is no extra cost for ink.

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

Important

After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

• All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

• Subscription / Instant Ink remains the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

Instant Ink is an excellent service for those who print regularly, print high-density documents or artwork, or perhaps print lots of homework.  For example, those who benefit the most include Teachers, musicians, writers who like hard copy, large families, small business offices, community centers, churches, and others who love -- or need -- to print on paper.
