@Arly1049,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

For the HP DeskJet 4200e All-in-One printer series, you'll want to purchase ink cartridges compatible with that model. According to HP's official support page, you can check exactly which cartridges apply by entering your product number, but for most markets the model uses cartridges from the HP 67 family.

Here's a breakdown of each and how they apply:

  • HP 67XL Black High‑Yield Ink Cartridge: A high-yield black cartridge in the HP 67 family — good if you print a lot of black‐text pages.

  • HP 67XL Tri‑Color High‑Yield Ink Cartridge: The corresponding high‐yield tri‐color cartridge (cyan/magenta/yellow) for the same family.

  • HP 67 Black & Tri‑Color Original Ink Cartridges 2‑Pack: Standard (non-XL) yield black and tri‐color pair from HP — a good choice if your print volume is moderate.

  • HP 67 Black Original Ink Cartridge: Just the black cartridge from the 67 standard‐yield line.

  • HP 67/67XL Black & Tri‑Color Combo Pack: Combo pack (black + tri‐color) covering either standard or high yield, depending on pack.

  • HP 67XL Compatible Ink Cartridges (third‑party): Third‐party compatible cartridges that claim compatibility with the 67XL line — if budget is tight you might consider these, but using non-HP cartridges could sometimes affect reliability, recognition, or support.

  • HP 65 Black Original Ink Cartridge & HP 64 Black Original Ink Cartridge: These are from different/older cartridge families and may not be compatible with your printer — included for completeness but check region/model carefully before using them.

Important notes for your user setting:

  1. Always check the exact model number of your printer (e.g., DeskJet 4200e, 4220e, etc). Some retailer listings show similar models like 4220e and the cartridges match. e.g., a Best Buy Q&A indicates "HP 67 XL ink will work in HP DeskJet 4200e model".

  2. Make sure you are buying for the correct region — HP sometimes has region‐specific cartridges or supply chain differences.

  3. Using original HP cartridges maximizes your printer’s reliability, smart-ink alerts, and proper recognition. If you use third‐party cartridges, you may face issues with print quality or detection, and in worst cases could void certain support.

  4. When installing cartridges, follow the official instruction video (see HP's support video for DeskJet 4200/4200e series) to avoid errors: Replace ink cartridges | HP DeskJet 2800/e, 4200/e, and Ultra 4900/e printers | HP Support.

  5. If the printer uses "e" in the model (4200e) it is likely part of HP’s "e-All-in-One" series which often uses the "67 / 67XL" cartridges rather than older HP 64/65 lines.

I can confidently recommend you buy either the HP 67 cartridges (standard yield) or HP 67XL (high yield) depending on your print volume.

Kind Regards,
