HP OfficeJet 6958 All-in-One Printer

HP OfficeJ 6958 won't print after installing new ink cartridge.  I got some dark streeks like the black ink was out.  I reinstalled printer.  Still doesn't pring.  Was working fine before I put in new ink.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting print quality issues, and I am glad to assist you.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

Meanwhile:-

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and then evaluate the results.

  • Load plain white paper in the input tray.
  • From the printer control panel, open the Setup menu.
  • Open the Reports or Tools menu.
  • Touch Print Quality Report.

If that does not print fine, follow these steps:-

Clean the printhead

  • From the printer control panel, open the Setup menu.
  • Open the Printer Maintenance menu.
  • If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.
  • A test page prints.
  • Example of the printhead cleaning test page
  • Examine the test page.
  • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. If necessary, repeat these steps for the third cleaning cycle.
  • NOTE:If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.
  • If the print quality is acceptable, touch Done.
