I jus5 installed new cartridges and ran HP Smart because of poor print quality.  The printer and the hp smart are indicating my cartridges are low on ink but have not printed anything in color other than test pages.  Why so little ink in the cartridges?

Try these steps:

Confirm Cartridge Installation:
Ensure that the new cartridges are installed correctly and are securely in place. Sometimes a loose connection can cause reading errors.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
Verify that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-genuine cartridges may not provide accurate ink level readings.

Check for Cartridge Protection:
Sometimes, the printer's cartridge protection feature might be enabled, affecting the ink level readings. Check this setting in the printer software preferences.

Recalibrate the Printer:
Try recalibrating the printer. This can help reset the printer's sensors, which might resolve the inaccurate ink level readings.

Clean the Printhead:
Use HP Smart or the printer’s control panel to clean the printhead. Improper ink flow can sometimes make the printer register the cartridge as low on ink.

Run Additional Diagnostic Tools:
Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and possibly fix any software-related issues that could be causing the false low-ink notification.

Update Printer Firmware:
Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, newer firmware versions resolve bugs related to incorrect ink level indications.
