I received and installed new instant ink cartridges into a HP Officejet Pro 8620 and still get a printer error, "problem with printer or ink system". my question is, if I get a replacement printhead, will the instant ink cartridges work with it?

Hi @22124bf ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing a "problem with printer or ink system" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8620, it's recommended to follow these steps before considering a replacement printhead:
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP support website for your printer model, and if there's a firmware update available, follow the instructions to update it.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are securely in place.
Clean Printhead Contacts:
- Turn off the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before proceeding.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and cartridges with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
