Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New full set instant ink catridges have arrived, I replaced all catridges with the new set. Error messages appear saying problems with the catridges. I conducted a hard reset, and cyan and yellow accepted, after a few minutes later, cyan appear to have an error. I've never had any issues with instant ink catridges before until the 3rd last batch I replaced.

It works now, please see steps for anyone else interested.

1. always keep your old inks put it in the recycling bag to prevent the inks drying out.

2. Magenta and Yellow had errors regarding installation

3. Yellow was accepted eventually after reinserting the old ink and then the new

4. Magenta was accepted (repeating step 3) after hard resetting, without powering off the printer I took the plug out and turn the switch off, and waited 10 mins.

5. Plug it back in then the printer will reinstall all the inks. Do a test print and you’re done.

Unfortunately, if I were to use the new black cartridge it brings me back to step one.

Thankfully the printer accepted the old cartridge. So all is good.

Hope this helps the community.

@stuwy, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

What model printer are you using? Insert the old ink cartridge and check if the error persists.

What is the exact error message?

For now, kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

As the issue is related to Instant ink cartridges, I need more information to help you out.

Since the instant ink account details are confidential, please send me the required information via private message.

The former old ink cartridge does not work as well, this issue has been persistent since early December 2020. This is currently the 3rd batch of inks, and there was no issue before this until I had to swop out the inks due to empty ink cartridges without error.

If you have used multiple sets of ink cartridges and the error persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

To be clear, all inks are provided by HP instant ink programme. From your description you've made it sound like I have gone and bought my own inks, which is no such case.

Yes, I understand the ink cartridges are from HP. However, this is an issue with the printer and not the ink cartridges.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

This error mesage came about only when I had to replace empty instant ink catridges. And the error messages keep fluctuating between the CMYK catridges as I try inserting removed instant ink catridges and the new ones received.

Therefore its not a hardware error. Can you kindly remove yourself from the support and enlist another agent in. It seems you are jumping the gun and keen to solve and close the case without fully comprehending the issue.

I'm sorry you feel that way. You have already used multiple sets of ink cartridges and the issue persists. This concludes the issue.

If you have already tried these steps mentioned in the document attached in my initial post, you may either contact the HP Support team for assistance or reach out to the Instant Ink team. The contact information for the Instant Ink team can be found on the Instant Ink home page.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted for any other assistance.
