HP online support was useless, directed me here. I want to know what the overage charges are, per plan, for the InstantInk program. The website is ambiguous saying it varies per plan, but no where does it tell that detail. I don't think the plans are right for me, but I'm considering how to make it work best for me but I want to know the overage charges, without having to test and find out the hard way. Thanks.

Thank you for taking a stab at it. But I have fixed the problem. I returned the HP printer whose ink cartridges literally cost more than the printer, and bought an Epson tank printer, for not much more than the HP. If you consider the ink cost, well under the HP cost. HP Ink costs and their ink rental plans have just gotten out of touch with reality IMO.

Hello,
I looked through HP’s public Instant Ink documentation and community sources — they confirm some overage-fee rules, but not a complete list by plan (which is likely kept internal or varies by market). Here’s what I found, and how you can check exactly what your overage cost would be in your region.
What I found
-
On HP’s Instant Ink plans page (US region), it states:
“Each additional set of 10 pages for just $1.50.” HP -
In the Instant Ink FAQ, HP reiterates that extra pages cost $1.50. HP
-
The Instant Ink Terms of Service confirm that “Additional Page Sets” (i.e. overage blocks) will be charged if you exceed your plan’s pages + any rollover pages. instantink.hpconnected.com
-
From community forums:
“you will be charged a definite amount for every 10 sets of pages after the rollover pages expire.” HP Support Community
So the most consistent official figure is $1.50 per extra 10-page block (in the U.S. market). But that might change by country or plan type (consumer, business, etc.).
What you should check for your overage cost
Because it can differ by country/region, you’ll need to verify this in your Instant Ink account dashboard. Here’s how:
-
Log in to your HP Instant Ink / HP Smart account.
-
Go to your plan summary or billing settings.
-
Look for a section like “Extra Pages / Overage Fees” or “Additional Page Sets”.
-
It should list how many pages per block (e.g. 10 pages) and how much each block costs.
-
Also check the terms or “Help” section in your regional HP site (for example HP India, HP UK) — sometimes localized pages list the overage in your currency.
