macOS 10.12 Sierra

I cancelled Instant Ink as my last bill was over €50 for the month. I had plenty of ink left but my printing ability was cut-off - wasting ink and resources. I installed new generic cartridges as they were considerably cheaper but HP is not recognising them and not letting me print. I spent most of the afternoon trying to sort this out. How is this legal? I can understand it affecting warranty but I have used the same non OEM cartridges with my previous printer and was not a problem at all. The quality is just fine. Where is the small print that says I cannot use any other ink? I know manufacturers don't like this but it is my printer that I paid for therefore I have the right to use whatever ink I can.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?

 

I would suggest you contact your ink supplier for a replacement.
