macOS 10.15 Catalina

In the middle of printing the printer came up with an error that the black cart needed to be reinserted. I've done this many times, as well as cleaning the contacts and unplugging the printer for 10 mins. I guess I need a replacement print cart but the HP support system just takes me round in circles.

As with everyone in the UK I'm currently homeschooling and the printer is essential. 

Does anyone have any ideas...?

I understand you are not able to print due to an ink cartridge error.

Make sure you perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

 

As the issue is related to Instant ink cartridges, I need more information to help you out.
