After canceling instant, Inc., I bought a new ink cartridge, and now my printer won’t recognize that there is ink in the printer. I’ve tried unplugging the printer from power without any cartridges installed, and that has not reset the printer I can’t print anything.

If you have canceled your account and are not able to use HP regular cartridges, here's what you need to know & do:
If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.
That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536
when done successfully, check if it works fine.
