The website says that the HP60 ink cartridge can be used in place of the HP901 ink cartridge. The printer says that the HP60 is incompatible. I tried the online troubleshooting suggestions and none of them worked. I have been unable to get a real person on the phone to discuss the problem. The virtual assistant just runs me in circles with the stock answers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @Jamesxanadu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Have you moved or changed your region/country?
While the HP 60 and HP 901 cartridges may appear similar, they are not interchangeable.
The HP 60 cartridge is designed for use in printers that specifically require it, while the HP 901 cartridge is designed for a different set of printers.
Using the wrong cartridge in your printer can cause compatibility issues and may damage the printer.
It's always best to use the correct cartridge type recommended for your printer model.
You may refer to this document for more details.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Sorry, I forgot to ask the logical question in my prior reply: does HP still manufacture the 901 color ink cartridge? Does HP have any cartridge that can be used in place of the 901? The clues I have gotten from other sources all suggest that they do not but I will ask you because you have given the most helpful answer I have gotten so far and you appear to know what you are talking about.
PS: I have lived in the same town all my life. I almost forgot to answer your question in this regard.
