Intermittent line printing

HP envy 4507 . It will print every third line and give a very poor impression of the intermediate lines. I print only in black and white but have replaced both the  colour and black cartridges  and now every alternate line is satisfactorily printed in mauve although the final right hand column is faint. Have always used genuine hp cartridges. Op system is Chrome on an HP chromebook.  Printer was reset to factory settings.  How to revert to using black cartridge only and to obtain a full printout?
