Product: HP Deskjet 6540
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP

Can you say me if HP Deskjet 6540 printer can be used with photo cartridge HP C1816A?

HP Deskjet 6540 printer isn't listed in HP support...HP C1816A is a very old cartridge....So, in general, I would like know if it's possible try use a cartridge not specified as a number cartridge listed for apposite use with a specific type of printer. THANKS in advance to anyone can help me!

Your printer only uses below cartridges in Italy, not any other cartridge:

A C1816A (HP 16) Photo Inkjet Cartridges is intended for an HP DeskJet 610 / 630 / 640 / 650 / 690  models only, not for any other.

So, I can't even try to put photo catridge C1816A in HP Deskjet 6540? It just wouldn't work?

Or it's only "advisable" use a specified cartridge with a specific type of printer?
