HP Recommended

I am researching pigment based ink printers to potentially purchase. On the HP website, the info regarding the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide-format Printer shows that HP Instant Ink is an option, and includes 3 month of the ink subscription, even though it's not listed on the HP Instant Ink list of eligible printers. I checked the question and answers and everyone who asked if it is compatible with HP Instant have been told that yes, it is. However, I have seen in queries on this HP Community site that no wide-format is eligible. I'm assuming at this point that it is not eligible, but could someone confirm whether it is or not, and why HP would include 3 months of the Instant Ink subscription if it isn't even eligible.

What is an Instant Ink Promotion / Trial ?

The offer is generally for a one month or longer trial to HP Instant Ink subscription service.

To get the trial, you must sign up, select a plan, and commit to the print-by-page subscription model.

An HP Instant Ink subscription is a contact for service - ink is included in that service.

The trial is a suspension of the monthly plan costs during the trial period.

The printer must be connected to the Internet (Web Services) during the Trial and for the duration of the contract.  Connection is used by service to monitor plan usage status and by the printer to request ink.

What is "Free Ink"?

There is no extra cost for ink.

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

Important

After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

  • All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

and

  • Subscription / Instant Ink remains the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

Who Benefits?

Instant Ink is an excellent service for those who print regularly, print high-density documents or artwork, or perhaps print lots of homework.  For example, those who benefit the most include Teachers, musicians, writers who like hard copy, large families, small business offices, community centers, churches, and others who love -- or need -- to print on paper.

It is important that you understand the Instant Ink cancellation / termination process and your responsibilities.
