I am having a problem with my HP Smart Tank 581 printer. Everytime I am printing, I am getting a black in smear on my papers. I think there is a problem with my ink pad inside and can't figure out if this printer has a waste tank to be replaced with just like other printer brands. Appreciate any help.

Hi @Lykasiya,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the HP Smart Tank 581 printer does not use traditional ink pads like some other printer models. Instead, it utilizes an internal ink tank system that allows you to refill ink directly into the tank.
If you're experiencing smearing issues with your prints, it's possible that there's an issue with the printhead or the ink delivery system.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Clean the printhead: Many smearing issues are caused by a dirty printhead. Most HP printers have a built-in printhead cleaning function that you can access through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
- Check ink levels: Ensure that the ink tanks are adequately filled. Low ink levels can sometimes cause printing problems.
- Check for clogs: Inspect the printhead for any clogs or dried ink residue. If you see any, you can try using a printhead cleaning kit or running additional printhead cleaning cycles.
- Use genuine ink: Make sure you're using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges may not perform as well and could contribute to printing issues.
- Adjust print settings: Sometimes, adjusting the print quality settings or paper type settings in the printer driver can improve print quality.
- Update firmware and drivers: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Update the firmware on an HP printer
