I cannot find options to print in colour on my HP Deskjet 2823e. The printer came with colour and I can print in colour when printing photos of the HP smart app on my phone. On word in my Mac laptop there are only 2 presets “black and white” and “black and white -draft” when I click edit presets there is not option to add colour. When I go file print, there is no tab on ANY page to select colour. I have looked at my word settings and selected print background colours and still no effect. I have just bought the printer and installed the colours. I have seen others to click file - options - display, this is not visible on my MacBook Air.

Hi @Allyssa10273

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are unable to print in color from your Mac.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

1. Check Ink Levels:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Look for an option that allows you to check ink levels.
  • Ensure that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink.

2. Print Settings:

  • When you go to print a document, make sure that you have selected color printing in the print settings.
  • Open the document you want to print.
  • Click on "File" and then "Print."
  • In the print dialog box, check for a setting that allows you to choose between color and black and white printing. Make sure "Color" is selected.

3, Printer Preferences:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Find the printer preferences or settings.
  • Look for any options related to color printing and make sure it's set to color.

4. Reinstall Printer:

  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
    • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
    • Go to "Printers & Scanners."
    • Select your HP printer and click the '-' button to remove it.
    • Restart your Mac.
    • Add the printer again by clicking the '+' button and selecting your HP printer.

5. Check for Software Updates:

  • Make sure your Mac's operating system and the HP Smart app are up to date. Check for any available software updates.

I hope this helps.
