HP officejet 5255
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there, I'm trying to roll back the firmware on my HP OfficeJet 5255 from verplspp1n003.2421a.00 to verplspp1n003.2102b.00 to bypass Dynamic Security and restore cartridge compatibility. I’ve disabled Web Services and connected via USB. Would you be able to share the rollback utility or .bdl file for the older firmware version? I’d really appreciate any help or guidance you can offer.

Hi @ruggb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to roll back the drive; however, we do not have the rollback option on certain printers. However, here’s what you can do if you're trying to restore cartridge compatibility by rolling back from firmware version verplspp1n003.2421a.00 to verplspp1n003.2102b.00 on your HP OfficeJet 5255:

What You Can Try:

1. Check for Older Firmware on HP’s Official Site

Sometimes, the older firmware is temporarily available:

👉 HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

  • Select your OS (Windows 11)
  • Expand the Firmware section
  • Look for version 2102b.00 or earlier

If it’s not listed, HP has likely removed it due to Dynamic Security enforcement.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

thanks, already been there done that. Hoping someone had one or knew where to find it.

I checked wayback also - nothing. This printer is trash unless I can find it.
