Hi @bbaxter6699,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps

Check Cartridge Authenticity:

  • Ensure the replacement cartridges are genuine HP cartridges. Counterfeit or third-party cartridges may not function properly.

Install the Cartridge Correctly:

  • Make sure the cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and reinstall it, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.
  • Follow the installation steps as outlined in your printer’s user manual.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the problematic cartridge.
  • Clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.

Update Printer Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Hard Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Check if the printer's ink level monitoring system is working correctly.
  • Sometimes the printer might not correctly recognize the new cartridge if the ink level monitoring is faulty.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try another new cartridge to rule out the possibility of receiving a defective cartridge.

I hope this helps.
