hp deskjet 3720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.. recently bought deskjet 3720 and installed it using instructions etc, also using normal ink cartridges. I used it to print out a few small pics of some artwork when I noticed my color level drop right down.  Went to the store I got it from to ask why it would be doing that. Guy said I should have installed the "setup cartridges" that came with it. He said its in the instructions, but I've read through all that it printed out at the beginning and nowhere does it say that. He said I've stuffed my printer.  Is that true?  The only instruction I got was a 3 step picture diagram .. It didnt say "use setup cartridges" Can I take out the normal inks and run the "setup" ones? Then reinstall the normal ones again?

@Ravencat, Welcome to HP Support Community!

My understanding of the issue is that you purchased the printer and set it up as per instructions. After you printed a few pages the color ink threw an alert for low ink levels.

Now, you'd want to know why did that happen?

Also, to answer your question once the cartridges that came with the printer are depleted you can replace them with the store-bought regular ink cartridges.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi.. thanks for answering,  and I really don't mean to be rude..  but you obviously didn't read what I wrote.  Long story short, I've sorted it out myself. Have a great day 🙂
