Hi @Divy10,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "supply problem" error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw printer typically indicates an issue with the toner cartridges. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this problem:
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure the cartridges you installed are genuine HP cartridges and compatible with your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw.
Reinstall the Toner Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer's front door and carefully remove the toner cartridges.
- Inspect each cartridge for any visible damage or leakage.
- Reinstall the cartridges, making sure they are seated correctly.
- Close the printer's front door.
Clean the Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the front door and remove the toner cartridges.
- Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and the printer.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Go to the HP support page and search for the latest firmware for your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
Check for Cartridge Protection:
- If you previously used HP cartridges protected with HP's Cartridge Protection feature, they might be locked to a different printer. To check and disable this:
- Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address in a web browser.
- Go to the "Settings" or "HP Web Services" section and look for "Cartridge Protection."
- Disable the Cartridge Protection feature.
Replace Faulty Cartridges:
- If none of the above steps work, one or more of the toner cartridges might be faulty. Try replacing the cartridges with new, genuine HP cartridges.
