HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M525f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

LaserJet 500 MFP m525f copies are light however print jobs are perfect.

Tried unplugging the device to reset but no improvement in copy quality.

Would replacing the HP CF116-67918 Image Scanner Whole Unit Assembly be a solution to the poor copy printing problem?

As noted before, the print jobs from the computer are perfect,  it is the quality of the scanned copies that are faded.  Tried the unplugging reset procedure with no benefit.

Further troubleshooting you can try is to compare the difference between scans through the ADF and scans from the flatbed glass. Is the fading consistent across the page? Unplugging these devices rarely solves this type of problem because all the settings that can get corrupted are stored in the operating system of the printer. Before replacing any parts, it is advisable to perform a partial clean on the harddrive. This will clear all your user settings for things such as scan to folder/email so you need to perform a backup first and then perform the partial clean. DO NOT UPDATE the firmware after making the backup without restoring first as backups do not function if firmware level changes.  The partial clean is performed through the pre-boot menu accessed when starting the machine by touching the HP logo when 1 of 8 appears under it and then going to the administrator option and selecting partial clean. Nothing will appear to happen but when you restart it will perform the procedure and startup will take about 10 minutes.

Thank you for your reply and partial HDD clean.

I am currently running the partial clean after backing up with the USB.  Do I restore the data saved on the USB at some point?

HP Recommended

I prepared a backup as instructed and did the partial clean with no improvement in the copies printed.

Print jobs have excellent quality.  I attempted a restore on the backup USB but it failed. The save to folder info is no longer a menu item.  Apparently, I missed a step or misstepped. Any other suggestions? Your assistance is appreciated.
