Hi All,

 

I have a LaserJet M454dn (product W1Y44A) that prints missing/light black. The cartridge is a genuine HP, which reads 90% full. The diagnostic and demo prints show light black in text and graphics, but the Cleaning Page printout shows a full-intensity black printout. Sometimes, text will be grey instead of black, other time, only an outline of the text prints (as if Shadow was selected in the word processor, even though its not).

 

Am I looking at an issue with the toner cartridge, laser imaging, or control board?

I have tried removing and reseating the cartridges, as well as power-cycling the printer, but the issue persists. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the printer or the toner cartridge, and would like to learn more before blindly purchasing a new toner.
