LaserJet MFP M183fw poor print quality. New HP ink was just installed. When I try to print a cleaning page, the printer just spits out a blank piece of paper and doesn't print any better afterwards.

Hi @Teg78,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the toner, the printhead, or the printer's internal components. Since you've already replaced the ink,

here are a few steps you can try to resolve the poor print quality and blank cleaning pages issue:

Check Toner Cartridges:

  • Make sure that the new toner cartridges are installed properly and that the protective tape has been removed from the toner cartridges before installation.
  • Check the toner cartridges to ensure they aren’t defective or damaged. Try removing and reinserting them to see if it helps.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1 minute, then plug it back in and power it on. This can help reset any internal processes that might be affecting the print quality.

Print a Configuration Page:

  • This will help you determine whether the issue is with the printer hardware or the connection to your computer. Print a configuration page directly from the printer’s menu (usually found under "Reports" or "Printer Status").

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, poor print quality can be related to outdated firmware. Check for any available updates for the printer’s firmware and install them.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Even though the printer isn’t printing properly with the cleaning page, you may want to manually clean the printhead or try the printer’s internal printhead cleaning process again.
  • If the printhead is clogged, it can cause blank pages or poor print quality. Be sure to follow the printer’s user manual for specific instructions on cleaning.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions:

  • Even though the printer is not printing at all, it’s a good idea to check for any small paper jams or debris inside the printer that might be blocking the print path.

Try Printing from Another Application:

  • If you're printing from a specific program, try printing from a different application (like Notepad or Word) to see if the issue persists across multiple programs.
