HP Color LaserJet MFP M283cdw (C8097D)

I am replying to this closed thread (on a new thread since new replies are no longer allowed on it) because thanks in part to the original answerer, I found an even better answer to the problem.

ORIGINAL POST ON CLOSED THREAD

Product: LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm having a big problem with color correction with this printer.  Even when I go into a program such as Photoshop and make a box say "perfect blue" (RGB of 0,0,255) it looks as expected on the screen however when I go to print (either with a printer managed color profile or with Photoshop's color profiles), it does not print anywhere near the color it should.

This is what it should look like:

This is what it actually looks like:

In reality, it actually looks more like this post button than the picture above...

What can I do to correct this?  I just bought this printer a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've tried printing from Photoshop for a project...

MY ANSWER:

Go to system settings ( gear icon in bottom menu bar of Mac )

Select the HP Color Laserjet M283
Click the "Options & Supplies" button in the window that comes up

Click the "Show Printer Webpage" button in the window that comes up

On the webpage that comes up, go to the System tab and click on "Print Density" in the left sidebar

There you can calibrate your printer very specifically to your liking. For me, I left the contrast settings alone and changed the color densities by one or two points in each category (shadows, highlights, midtones) until I ended up with a printed page that matched my screen. (Be sure to click the "Apply" button in the lower right once you make your changes)

I'm just another forum user (not an HP employee or volunteer) but hope this helps! Jesus bless you ❤️

5 - Go to System tab and then _Print Density_ in left sidebar - this screenshot shows successful settings.png
