Hope someone has a clue! We've got a MFP M283fdw LaserJet printer. It is mainly used for printing pictures for my wife's art projects. Today for no known reason the picture(s) being sent to the printer from her laptop/phone are faded, streaky & blurry. When I tried to print from my laptop, the results were the same (I didn't really think it would make a difference but I figured I'd try). I checked ink levels, which were all in at least in the 20% range and the paper used was an appropriate laserjet compatible paper. I am not a techie type of person so there is only so much I know to check going through the "setup" button on the menu screen. Any suggestions?

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating print quality issue.
Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and improve the print quality on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw:
Step 1: Check Toner Cartridges
- Ensure the toner cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
- Even if the toner levels are above 20%, try gently shaking the cartridges to redistribute the toner evenly.
Step 2: Clean the Printer
- Dust or toner buildup inside the printer can cause streaks and blurriness. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the inside of the printer, especially around the toner cartridges and rollers.
- If your printer has a cleaning mode, run it to clean the printheads and other internal components.
Step 3: Perform a Print Quality Diagnostic
- Access the printer’s control panel and navigate to Reports or Tools.
- Select Print Quality Report or a similar option.
- Review the report to identify any specific issues, such as alignment or color calibration problems.
Step 4: Calibrate the Printer
- Go to the printer’s menu and look for Calibration or Alignment options under Setup or Maintenance.
- Run the calibration process to ensure the colors and print quality are properly aligned.
Step 5: Update Printer Firmware
- Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
- Download and install the latest firmware updates, as these can resolve known issues and improve performance.
Step 6: Check Paper Settings
- Ensure the paper type selected in the print settings matches the paper you’re using (e.g., glossy, matte, or plain paper).
- Using incorrect settings can lead to faded or streaky prints.
Step 7: Test with Different Files
- Try printing a different image or document to rule out file-specific issues.
