6978 all-in-one printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can the HP 6978 be left on all the time? Will the inks dry out?

The ink will dry if you don't print.

Leaving printer ON or OFF doesn't make much difference in ink drying.

Valsimot, thank you for your expert opinion.

I wonder if that is true for other ink-jet printers. I have a high-end Epson printer in storage for a year or so, and your comment makes me think it may not come back to life when I bring it out of retirement.

The rule works the same for all inkjet printers.

Chances you will get 100% print on Epson nozzle check are very small, you will probably waste a lot of ink on cleaning print head on Epson.
