Envy 7640 All In One

When printing on Envy 7640 lines go missing and text gets cutoff halfway - horizontally.  Are there specific settings?  Warranty already expired so did the HP Doctor check but was of no help.   No problem with color, maybe cartridge?  I did put a new genuine HP cartridge in that could not be read by printer so had to buy a new cartridge that worked.  Any idea why printer is reacting this way?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are all the copies coming out well in black and color?

Is this happening with the new cartridge that's working currently?

Hello Betty0610, I hit reply to your email and then realized I needed to go into the community to respond.  The ink cartridge is not the problem, colors come out perfect.  The problem is lines are missing on the printed page, it is not exactly as what is on the  screen page.  I can print directly what's on the screen or  manually make a copy on the printer and either way lines go missing on the printed copy.  It looks like every other line is missing and the missing lines are random throughout the page.  Sorry, but the link you sent does not solve my problem.  Looks like there's a malfunction in connection.  How can I adjust the settings to make all lines appear on a printed copy?

If the copies made in color and black have lines, this could be a hardware issue.

Please do this: take a separate color copy and a separate black copy and let me know if you see those lines in both.

Okay, I printed in color and got 2 lines printed of a 9-line document then printed in black and got 5 lines printed of the same 9-line document.  By this experiment, is it a hardware problem instead of a printer problem?

I recommend you to contact the HP Support Team regarding this as this could be a hardware issue.
