Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

I received the low ink warning in mid Feb and still using the same ink in mid May. I feel this is just a way to sell more ink.

It's not, it is explained in the user manual of the printer. The ink needs to be replaced when the print quality is no longer accepted, the ink level is an estimate and it's not like 100% accurate.
