Hi,
I’ve got a very bizarre issue that has started happening with my HP M255dw laser printer.
it’s all been working perfectly for a couple of years, but suddenly all the prints are too light. This affects black, and all the colour cartridges. This also happens if I print from an iPad or a Mac computer. No settings have been changed, just the output has changed.
The colour toner cartridges all are more than 30% full, the black toner is at around 90%
Symptoms:
1) parts of the print that should be black come out black. But things that should be mid-grey come out much, much lighter than they should, a very light grey. This affects mid level colour too.
2) I selected the print cleaning page option from the printer panel,, and after a couple of minutes, it printed a completely white page. That doesn’t sound right.
3) I tried the colour calibration option and that made no difference whatsoever.
i’ve tried turning the printer off and back on. That made no difference.
Since black comes out correctly as black, this feels like a software issue, but I can’t think of anything else to try.
Has any one else experienced anything like this?
Any suggestions on what I can try next?
Thanks in advance for any help
Liz

I’ve also now reset the printer to factory defaults, which didn’t fix the problem either.
I still think this is very weird.
Black comes out fine, but a mid-grey comes out so faint it’s hardly readable.
Feels like a software issue, but having reset the printer completely, it’s hard to see how that can be the case.
