I just bought it for stickers printing on laser print printable vinyl and polyester. I choose this specific printer because of its high resolution (1200DPI).
The colors look pretty good but the black is a disaster!! No matter what black I try (30,30,30,100_60,40,40,100_0,0,0,100 etc.) I get an Incomplete color that appears faded. I tried everything I could on the printer preferences and Adobe illustrator print dialog box - and nothing!! Is there anything else I can try to get a full, rich black and colors??

Hi,
Can you see better results on plain Paper when printing black?
Can you add a picture of the paper packaging information to better understand the used paper? the printer does not list Vynil or Polyester Paper as a supported paper and such behavior may occur due to using an incompatible paper.

If you print the print quality test pages is the black solid there, if yes, my guess is that when printing from Illustrator it is using composite black (mixing all colours), not using the actual black toner. I had a quick scan of the driver settings and you can force pure black for text but there is not an obvious driver setting for graphics. Might be a setting in Illustrator. If the black sheet from the print quality test pages is not black then you probably have a bad black cartridge.

Thanks for answering!
I printed the CMYK and RGB samples from the M553 itself and the test print all the colors looks great but it looks like it can be a bit more vivid or saturated - can it be because of a problem on the black toner like you suspected?
And the black still looks the same not solid and faded..
I really can't tell if this is the most black I can get from a Laser printer or there is a problem..
A question, if there is a problem with the black toner, will it shows that the toner level is lower like it's been used?
It is so frustrating!! I got it 2 days ago, and to think that my biggest fear was setting it on my pc...

Your first sample is showing and that really looks like a low or bad black toner cartridge. Was this a new printer or did you buy a used or demo model?

So I talked with hp support, and after sending them the print results and a few more testing they agreed that something is wrong with the black color I get while printing.
At first, they offer to send a new black toner, and after we tried to make a toner test ( by changing between the black and cyan ) - that did not succeed - they offer to exchange this printer with a new one.
I will update after I will get the new one 🙂
Thanks for your help!
