Hi @Mmeron ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing dirty or smudged printouts at the bottom of the page with your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 179fnw printer, there are several potential causes and solutions you can try:

Check the Toner Cartridge:

  • Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed.
  • Shake the toner cartridge gently to evenly distribute the toner inside.

Inspect the Imaging Drum:

  • The imaging drum may be dirty or damaged. Carefully remove the drum unit and inspect it for any debris or damage. If necessary, clean the drum following the manufacturer's instructions.

Clean the Printer:

  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the inside of the printer, especially around the area where the toner cartridge is installed.

Check for Paper Residue:

  • Sometimes, small bits of paper or debris can accumulate inside the printer. Check for any loose particles and remove them.

Adjust Paper Type and Quality Settings:

  • Ensure that you have selected the correct paper type and quality settings in the printer driver. Using the wrong settings might lead to printing issues.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Firmware updates can sometimes address printing issues. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

Replace the Toner Cartridge:

  • If the toner cartridge is old or running low, consider replacing it with a new, genuine HP toner cartridge.

Run Cleaning Page:

  • Some printers have a cleaning page function. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to run a cleaning page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
