Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 is not printing black despite changing cartridges and cleaning, try these steps:
1. Check Ink Levels
Even if you've replaced the cartridge, check the ink levels in HP Smart App or the printer menu.
2. Run Printhead Cleaning (Again)
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead
- Run the cleaning cycle up to 3 times (if needed).
3. Try a Print Quality Diagnostic Report
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report.
- Check if black ink is missing or faded.
4. Reseat the Black Cartridge
- Remove the black cartridge.
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 5 minutes, then power it back on.
- Reinsert the black cartridge securely.
5. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it from power for 10 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.

6. Try a Different Cartridge
- If possible, test with a new genuine HP black cartridge (even if the current one is new).
7. Clean the Printhead Manually
If the above steps don’t work, the printhead may be clogged. You can try:
- Using warm distilled water:
- Remove the printhead (if detachable).
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with warm water.
- Gently wipe the printhead nozzle.
- Dry it and reinstall.
8. Check for Firmware Updates
- Use HP Smart App or go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
