I just received a new HP Deskjet 2700e series printer and the magenta ink does not print. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Pilley85,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your new HP Deskjet 2700e series printer is having issues with printing magenta ink, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check Ink Cartridges: Make sure the magenta ink cartridge is properly installed and correctly seated in its slot. Sometimes, cartridges may not be fully clicked into place.
  • Print Head Alignment: Run the print head alignment process through the printer’s settings or software. This can often resolve issues with color printing.
  • Clean Print Heads: Use the printer's built-in cleaning utility to clean the print heads. This can usually be found in the printer’s menu under maintenance or tools.
  • Check for Obstructions: Ensure that there is no packaging material or protective tape left on the cartridges or inside the printer.
  • Verify Ink Levels: Check the ink levels in the printer’s software to ensure that the magenta ink isn’t empty or low.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for your printer. You can download these from HP’s website.
  • Perform a Test Print: Print a test page or a diagnostic page from the printer’s menu to check if the issue persists.
  • Replace Cartridge: If none of the above steps work, the cartridge itself might be defective. Try replacing it with a new one to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks Alden4,

I went through all of the troubleshooting ways but, to no avail. The magenta is still not printing and now the black and other colours are running down. I just wonder if the tricolour is faulty. If so, I will need to contact HP to have a new tricolour sent to me. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi again,

I just tried using troubleshooting again and I am still having the same issue. Also, I noticed the printer ink is it normal to receive printer ink with a 2023.07.18 date on them? Which makes them over a year old?

I noticed what looks like green ink coming from the right side of the printer on the inside. Do you know what that would be from? I've attached photos of the printer ink and the green ink?Green ink?Green ink?year old printer inkyear old printer ink

I'm just trying to get this printer to work. This is very frustrating as I purchased this HP because I had issues with my Epson, and I've always used HP or Brother printers. ugh....

Any other suggestions?
