Hello,
Changed a printer cartridge and asked to print an alignment page and scan it. I did that but the alignment was not complete. The message said that the alignment page might not be clear enough or damaged. I printed another but now don't know how to complete the alignment. How do I proceed to run the alignment?

Hi @JamesNel1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It can be frustrating when printer alignments don't go smoothly after replacing a cartridge. Let's try a few steps to get things back on track.
- When you scanned the alignment page, did it look smudged or unclear in any areas?
- Is there any visible dirt or smudge on the scanner glass that might have affected the scan quality?
- Did the alignment page print correctly without missing colors or streaks?
Let's try these steps.
Clean the scanner glass: Gently wipe the scanner glass with a clean, lint-free cloth to remove any smudges or dust that could prevent it from properly reading the alignment page. Make sure the surface is completely dry before scanning again.
Check the alignment page quality: Look closely at the newly printed alignment page. If you notice missing lines or colors, try reprinting the page. Make sure it's placed face-down on the scanner glass, aligned with the indicated corner.
Manually start the alignment: If the printer doesn’t automatically ask you to scan, try manually starting the process:
- On your printer control panel, press and hold the Cancel and Start Copy Color buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. This may trigger the alignment process.
Restart the printer: Power off the printer for about a minute, then power it back on. This can help reset any scanning issues, and you can retry scanning the alignment page.
Recheck cartridge seating: Make sure the ink cartridges are seated correctly in their slots. Sometimes a slightly out-of-place cartridge can cause alignment errors.
