My printer quit printing with a message saying to install black cartridge.  Cartridge had been working just fine right up to the instant of that message.  I pulled cartridge out and reinstalled and then did the same installing a new cartridge.  No change in the message.  Can't use fax or print feature. Scanner still works.  I did uninstall and reinstall to no effect.  How do i get rid of the message and get back to printing?  Thanks.

@TKQ, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - 'Install Black Cartridge' Displays

Make sure you are using HP ink toner.

If you have tried 2 different ink toners and get the same error, I'm afraid it is an issue with the printer.

Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
