@jdre1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- For better assistance, what model printer are you using?
- Are you using a Win PC or a MAC?
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
- Try making a standalone copy in black and color to check if that prints fine. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Keep me posted.

Photosmart C4680 (Black Ink 60 )and OfficeJet J4550 (Black Ink 901). Pc Windows 7 and XP both do this. Adobe Reader documents show it, and the Windows Printer Test Page. Webpages may or may not show this, no pattern. Standalone scan worked OK the one time I tried on each printer with New ink. I replaced new (Malaysia Exp. 2022) ink with Expired 2019 ink and restored functionality to both printers. Replacing the Color 60 along with the Black 60 did not help. Repeated realigns did not help. You can see the alignment page is offset more with the new ink, I still have the examples and can post photos if needed.

What I could use is a contact in HP Ink mfg. to send this information to. So they can check this out. The next time I need ink I want to buy it from HP or Staples and have it work. I am not the only person on forum with this problem and it affected 2 different printers and cartridge types for me.
